Gender-Affirming Care

Supporting Your Journey

A pelvic health physical therapist can be a helpful resource throughout your gender affirmation journey. Finding a therapist that makes you feel seen, celebrated, and safe is essential. At Rhea PT, we provide gender-affirming care in an inclusive, welcoming environment.

If you are considering gender-affirming surgery, or have already completed your surgery, we have the skills and resources to support you every step of the way.

Before surgery we provide…

  • pelvic floor assessment prior to bottom surgery to figure out the strength, flexibility, and coordination of your pelvic floor

  • treatment for any pelvic floor symptoms you may have prior to surgery

  • education on the function of the pelvic floor and the foundations of pelvic health to ensure all systems are working smoothly

  • a whole-body assessment of your strength and function prior to surgery to establish your baseline and set goals for post-surgery

Post-surgical Care

After surgery we provide…

  • hands-on therapy to ensure healthy scar healing after top or bottom surgery

  • targeted exercises to regain range of motion, strength, and coordination of all muscle groups affected by the surgery

  • support in establishing an effective dilating routine that follows the protocol provided by your surgeon

  • personalized action plans to help you get back to anything and everything that you want to do—from exercise to intimacy—with ease and confidence
